A Personal Note
I did not send out my midweek Substack” Egberto Off The Record” newsletter this last week because late Saturday, my daughter had a second stroke. For anyone interested, I explained the ordeal here. I am now in Washington DC, taking care of her. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday were the most difficult days. We have seen much improvement over the last two days, and I hope the progress continues without any relapse. Please keep my family in your thoughts.
I have always used my personal stories as part of my political activism. After all, most of us share similar stories in most respects. I believe if we all did this, our commonality would be obvious, and the oligarchic directed hit-persons would be unable to create the corrosive discord among us. I was pleasantly surprised when Tiffany Cross told her medical story on The Cross Connection recently.
My political activism concentrates on calling out those in power but engaging ALL because I understand that we are often just puppets on a string.
Throughout my blog posts, I have spoken about how policies like SEP, 529, Obamacare, and others materially affected my family unit.
This ongoing ordeal with my daughter having two strokes and my wife having Lupus continues to be an eye-opener. We need sound policies to prevent unfettered capitalistic parasites from monopolizing our illnesses. In subsequent posts, I will have much more to say.
I am setting up to operate out of DC for a while (blogging, radio/media shows, podcasts, writing, etc.). Using a mobile setup makes it more challenging, but I created this edition with the portable configuration with all the videos. I will need a more powerful portable soon to make the broadcast and pre-processing faster and more efficient.
Hang in with me as I adjust scheduling. My daughter must be the priority. When one has this type of medical ordeal, one wishes their government instituted easily accessible and humane social and medical services for us all instead of navigating them when one is sick.
Mainstream media ex-reporter acknowledged being used by Right-Wing: GOP is a criminal enterprise.
Former Chicago Tribune editor Mark Jacob and Journalism Prof. Jelani Cobb slammed the current reporting of Right-Wing false equivalences.
Ironically, Mark Jacob realized that the mainstream media was complicit in making the Republicans and the Right-Wing plausible to the American people. Had they reported as they should, Americans would have realized that their failed ideology would hurt most.
Lawrence O'Donnell asked Professor Jelani Cobb if journalism required new rules or if there is now a dynamic challenge. Cobb said both.
Unfortunately, Mark Jacob is late to the game. Independent journalists have been talking about how old-style journalism is used by the Right to promote their lies and flawed ideology. I wrote the piece "Today's journalism is incompatible with today’s Right Wing politics. We need a new paradigm," a few years ago that ended as follows.
The current form of journalism is incapable of saving America from the likes of Trump and the misinforming institutions funded by the Plutocracy. Think tanks like the Heritage Foundation are tools the Plutocracy uses to maintain their power even as their supported policies decimate all else. They present seemingly legitimate studies and talking points the media is enticed to cover.
So today's journalism is driven by the sheer volume of material released by the right that seems to necessitate coverage irrespective of value. Secondly, the white papers and data from Right Wing think tanks with their air of plausibility is always available to a hungry media with an increasing need for content.
Worse, however, today's journalism continues the X said while Y said orthodoxy that no longer works because it is a system the Right gamed.
But who says we must continue the techniques learned in the Schools of Journalism. A dynamic society requires change when realities change. The Plutocracy and the Right have gamed the current form of journalism. As such, it is essential that journalists adopt a new paradigm. No longer can they allow their platforms to be a ward of the Right Wing. Journalists must be on their game. They must know the subject they are covering to ensure the minimization of bloviating misinforming subjects. Most importantly, they must never leave misinformation and lies on the table. It must be refuted immediately, in real-time. If the media had practiced that form of journalism, the birther movement, death panels, and other silly lies would never have gotten traction.
It is time for journalism where truth prevails at all costs. Misinformation must get no media delivered traction.

It’s not the Democrats. It’s the media that is screwing up the Build Back Better message.
The media filters Biden's Build Back Better message through their sensationalized narrative then blames Democrats for not telling Americans how the bills improve their lives.
Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal, chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, is interviewed on the cable channels constantly. When discussing the human infrastructure bill or any part of the Biden Agenda, Jayapal always points out how the bills would improve Americans' lives by expanding Medicare to include dental coverage and more. She talks about its tax credits for children, support for family leave, working families' child care, and much more.
President Joe Biden talks about it constantly as he explains what the bills would do and how we would pay for it. He uses it as an opportunity to appropriately castigate the wealthy who have been figuratively freeloading on our society.
Senator Bernie Sanders, Rep. Cori Bush, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rep. Ilhan Omar, Senator Chuck Schumer, and many others have been explaining to the media all that is in the bill. Speaker Nancy Pelosi is famous for saying the teachers, the teachers, the teachers in her narrative explaining the Build Back Better policy.
I generally respect Peter Baker's report. But what happened here. It is they made him a lawyer arguing an arbitrary position. It is this kind of reporting that gives us presidential losers like Donald Trump.
Peter had the nerve to claim that Donald Trump was an excellent brander. The reality is that most of the Trump-branded failures have been failures. It's not that he was a great brander. It is that he had the privilege to attain an unlimited number of branded failures. Yet, Baker highlights Trump as he misrepresents Democrats' fight for the Build Back Better Agenda.

Deluded Editorial: Democrats will thank Joe Manchin for protecting them from Progressive excess. NOT!
Washington Examiner Sr. Political Correspondent David Drucker wants Americans to believe that Progressives are a danger and Joe Manchin is their savior.
Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema continue playing games with their support for the human infrastructure bill. It has nothing to do with what most Americans want. They would like to characterize their behavior as being fiscally responsible. But the truth is they are just shills for their corporate benefactors.
David Drucker, the Washington Examiner Sr. Political Correspondent had an interesting notion. He said that Democrats are trying to pass a bill that Americans did not vote for. He then claims that there is a 50/50 Senate and a near 50/50 House. While that may be physically true it is the result of not having a real Democracy.
That California has the same number of Senators as Wyoming says it all. California has a population of almost 40 million and Wyoming has a population of 0.58. That is not a Democracy. Not to mention, the gerrymandering in the Red States has Conservatives overrepresented in the House of Representatives.
All the polls say that most Americans by a large majority support President Biden's Build Back Better policy. Republicans, Sinema, and Manchin are out of step with the average Americans as they carry water for their wealthy benefactors and corporations.
Senator from the poorest state insults his own constituents. Joe Manchin: ‘Entitlement mentality’
Senator from the poorest state and one most dependent on government, Joe Manchin, gave them the finger in this entire rant.
Joe Manchin proved in this one snippet who he is. He cares nothing about his constituents. He pretty much threw them under the bus.
Senator Manchin made several things clear.
He does not understand that society must be amenable to working people if you want people to work. Society needs to have means for parents to get affordable healthcare, affordable childcare, and available family leave. These are more important than building bridges. You can't share the economics of building bridges if all do not have the opportunity to build them.
The Senator puts capital over humanity. He fails to understand that human capital is a real thing. It is something America is losing. The angst in the country has its genesis in that reality.
The Senator does not understand economics. He attributes a strong dollar to the Dollar stores going to a mostly $1.25 price. The price of these stocks soared because the titans of capital understood that the move would earn them more money. A cheap dollar means the crap at the dollar store cost less. And at the same time, they will charge the customer more. Again, the wealthy owners win.
