Harvey Wasserman explains Democratic failures in Virginia. Remember Georgia win.
Journalist and Political Activist Harvey Wasserman explains what Democrats must do if they are to win, Georgia, not Virginia.
Harvey Wasserman has a message for Democrats. He recently co-wrote the article titled “The Dem Failure to Follow the "Georgia Way" Lost Virginia and Points Toward Fascism” that made clear that it was not Glenn Youngkin’s victory but a democratic loss. The beginning of the article is prescient.
The predictable corporate Democrats' Virginia defeat came because the party’s gerontocracy refused to do the “Georgia Way” grassroots organizing that won for Biden in 2020 and captured two US Senate seats on January 5, 2021---the day before Trump’s attempted Capital coup.
Running on issues of the economy, human rights and the ecology, Georgia’s breakthrough on-the-ground campaign did everything the Democrats should have done to win in Virginia.
Let’s look at the history:
The long-shot presidential victory of Joe Biden in Georgia, 2020---followed by the virtually impossible January 5, 2021 US Senatorial victories there of Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossof---changed the world.
Biden’s unlikely 2020 victory in Georgia was critical to removing Donald Trump from the White House. Georgia had not gone for a Democrat since southerner Bill Clinton ran in 1992, with Ross Perot splitting the right-wing vote.
Even more unlikely was the January 5, 2021 US Senate victory of two Democrats, Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossof. Together they brought the Upper House to a 50-50 tie, giving Vice President Katherine Harris the decisive vote that has radically transformed the balance of power on Capitol Hill.
These earth-shaking Democratic victories sparked an epic political transformation not only because of where they happened---but because of how.
The authors made it cleat that had Democrats run on real issues as opposed to the manufactured playing field, the outcome would have been different. Even with a lousy campaign, Terry McAuliffe only lost by 70,000 votes or so.

Big Pharma Ad scares seniors & Americans with lies to avoid drug price controls. Here’s the truth!
Big Pharma continues its lying campaign to mislead seniors and Americans to pressure Congress to avoid drug price controls. They want to continue the legal theft.
This morning as I was drinking my first cup of coffee with my daughter, a Big Pharma ad came on. I had to do a double-take because of its subtleness and effectiveness. Here is the text of the ad.
I take medications for systemic lupus and cancer. Recently, I've been hearing about Medicare negotiation and how some in Congress think it's a good idea. It isn't. In countries where the government sets prices and controls access, patients experience dangerous wait times. Some never gain access to the lifesaving medicines we have here in America. Government price setting will hurt seniors like me. Let's never let that happen.
Ironically, the woman in the ad has the same disease that my wife has, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE). There have not been significant strides on this disease, likely because it does not affect enough people. And that is the problem with having a system that is dependent on for-profit drugs.
Let's discuss several drugs specific to the mentioned disease in the ad, SLE. It has been managed successfully for decades with old medications no longer under patent like prednisone, less than $20/mo, Hydroxychloroquine, less than $10/mo, an,d if one has kidney involvement, mycophenolate mofetil, less than $60/mo. My wife participated in a study for several years to test the drug Benlysta by Big Pharma GlaxoSmithKline plc (GSK).
My wife perceived no measurable positive effects of this drug. Now that the test is over, it would cost her north of $42,000/yr if she wanted to use the drug. One should remember all drugs were in some manner funded by taxpayers directly or indirectly. Yet these drug-pushing terrorists continue to rip off Americans,
The statements in the ads are false and misleading. They claim that other countries that have price controls on drugs have significant wait times. Have you tried to get an appointment with a specialist recently? For most in America, the wait times are weeks, if not months. Have you tried to get a drug you cannot afford? You must either become a beggar or do without medicine. They fatten the coffers of executives and shareholders that played a minimum role in creating the drugs.
The ad would have one believe that humane procedures in other countries to save the lives of most without causing their bankruptcy is somehow dangerous. The facts say otherwise.
The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is an international organization that works to build better policies for better lives. Their goal is to shape policies that foster prosperity, equality, opportunity, and well-being for all. They rank countries in many areas, including healthcare. As drug companies and other health companies continue the pilfering of Americans, we continue to remain mediocre in life expectancy and other places in healthcare. We are ranked 26th in life expectancy. Every country that reins in our Big Pharma and other personal-wealth pilfering companies do much better than the United States.
Do not be fooled by these ads. They want you to support policies against your interests. They want you to pay as much as you can, no less. These companies transfer America's wealth to a few using their pricing power for service, and product one needs to live. It is time for Medicare for All and to remove the profit out of healthcare. After all, those who profit from healthcare and innovate the new drugs and techniques aren't the ones getting the profits and massive bonuses.

Arturo Dominguez, Racial Justice Advocacy Journalist, on Latino 1619 project issues and #WEOC.
Racial Justice Advocacy Journalist Arturo Dominguez challenges Latinos and others critical of the 1619 project & #WEOC.
Arturo Dominguez did not disappoint. Recently Arturo wrote the article titled “Unpacking Latino Criticism of The 1619 Project: Addressing the arguments some Latinos have made against the accurate teaching of U.S.-centric Black History.”
Mr. Dominguez’s article should be read in its entirety. But his mild admonition of the Latin American and Caribbean Island (LACI) community for their critique of the 1619 Project is important.
Latin American and Caribbean Islanders must be more conscious of the vast differences between the experiences in their homelands and those in the United States. While immigrants see opportunity, they’re not seeing the deeper systems that keep Black people oppressed. Those systems are largely highlighted in the 1619 Project. Instead of hurling abject criticisms at the project while diluting it with the histories of other nations, it seems that time would be better spent listening and learning how the LACI community can help advance the conversation for racial justice in the U.S. leaving out political rhetoric.¹² If the United States is to represent opportunity, then it should be incumbent upon us to ensure equal access to it using our voices, perspectives, and collective socio-political influence as Latinos in America.
Because without Black people, the American dream wouldn’t exist.

Liz Cheney: Republicans are willing hostages to Trump and are domestic threats
Congresswoman Liz Cheney did not mince her words as she called out her Republican colleagues as willing hostages to Trump and are endangering the nation.
Liz Cheney recently appeared at a New Hampshire free speech event where she called out President Trump as a domestic threat. But she did not stop there. She went much more profound with just a few words.
"We are also confronting a domestic threat that we have never faced before," Liz Cheney said. "A former president who's attempting to unravel the foundations of our constitutional republic aided by political leaders who have made themselves willing hostages to this dangerous and irrational man."
Cheney hits the nail on the head. The message is no longer for most Republican politicians. As she said, they are more than Trump sycophants. She is correct. They are willing hostages of their enslaver, Donald Trump.
The only solution to the problem is to beat them soundly. If Democrats do their job both with releasing the realities of the January 6th coup attempt, the insurrection by Trump's domestic terrorists, many of the excellent thinking moral Republicans will do the right thing. They won't sit out the election. They will vote Democratic.
