Springfield, Ohio, pastor reminds Donald Trump, JD Vance, Evangelicals, and MAGA that Jesus demands that they invite the immigrant. Unfortunately, the evil we are expelling is un-Christian.
Thanks for articulating this pastor's Jesus message. Lest we forget, no one protests white immigrants from Canada, the UK and northern Europe. Further, hatred of Haitian immigrants in particular stems from 1804, when Haitians concluded history's first and only successful Black slave revolt, terrifying slave owners and white supremacists in the US and abroad.
France, the US and other 'Christian' nations closed ranks against the new nation of Haiti, forcing Haitians to pay reparations to France for stealing property, i.e., Haitians’ own bodies! (A similar thing happened in the US. Our federal government reimbursed slave owners for the loss of their ‘property’ but did not compensate formerly enslaved people for their decades of stolen labor.)
These and other vast injustices have crippled Haiti for the past 220 years. All those current Haitian-hating memes? Every one of them traces back to 1804. Remember that next time you see a meme about Haitians in Ohio eating cats and dogs.
