General Barry McCaffrey gives President Biden the ultimate advice as he says: This war is over.
Few wise persons are giving any rational advice on TV. General Barry McCaffrey is one of the few worth listening to.
It has been a delight listening to General Barry McCaffrey over the other charlatans. Many politicians, “journalists,” and former military brass have been “advising” President Biden to do some ridiculous things.
Some advise the President to reopen Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan. McCaffrey pointed out that it would require one of the largest air assaults to do that.
Others want the one brigade at the Kabul airport to extend their stay. McCaffrey expressed how thoughtless that request would be. He said the brigade is 600 miles from the sea, 1200 miles from air support, and thousands of miles from home. In other words, it is senseless.
The general posited that one ask any recent military school graduate whether the brigade should fight or stay past August 31st. He is sure they would not do the irresponsible thing.

Tiffany Cross dispels lies & misinformation about SNAP, the food stamps program.
MSNBC Host Tiffany Cross used her program to debunk what many believe about SNAP's food stamps program. Republicans should heed it.
Recently the Biden administration affected the largest single increase in benefits to date in the SNAP food stamps program. NPR reported it as follows.
With all the developments in Afghanistan and Haiti, you may have missed this historic announcement out of Washington: The Biden administration has approved updates to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), giving families who currently receive food stamps the largest single increase in benefits to date.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture on Monday released a reevaluation of the Thrifty Food Plan, which is used to calculate SNAP benefits, based on changes to nutritional guidance, food prices and what Americans eat.
Its new calculations mean that the average SNAP benefit will increase by $36.24 per person, per month, beginning Oct. 1.The impact will be felt by many, as the Agriculture Department says the program helps feed more than 42 million Americans (or 1 in 8) each month.
The exact amount will vary by state — you can check on the estimated increase your state will receive here.
Plus, check out this SNAP eligibility guide to see current maximum household benefit amounts and learn how they're calculated.
Tiffany Cross applied the necessary political context. She reminded her audience that Ronald Reagan, his cohort, and the Right-Wing were always intent on given the impression that it was "the welfare mom," wink-wink, black & brown people, who were dependent on the program.
Tiffany invited Joel Berg, the author of "America, we need to talk," appeared on the program to dispel the lies about food stamps. She also had a recent college grad who had to use food stamps to supplement her nutrition.
This type of panel is important to dispel the barrage of lies that normally emanate from the Right.
O’Donnell slams Afghanistan coverage advised by media-paid generals who themselves lost wars.
MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell gave an adult assessment of the Afghanistan withdrawal, unlike the deluge of doom promoted by the media and their paid generals.
The mainstream media reports about Afghanistan in a context-less shallow manner. Lawrence O'Donnell echos the sentiment of many who don't buy into groupthink.
Many call the evacuation a debacle. O’Donnell asked the pertinent question, a debacle compared to what?
O’Donnell correctly points out that leaving a way where one has lost does not look pretty. He gave the pertinent comparisons with Vietnam, which was a much bigger fiasco.
Sadly, our media coverage is a problem. We must ensure that we inform all Americans. But they should expect that the information they are getting has the correct context. Moreover, groupthink is the last type of reporting they need.
Kudos to Lawrence O’Donnell for not falling into the lazy trap like most reported not only in the White House but throughout the country are falling for. Instead of shooting from the hip or succumbing to media peer pressure most seemed to have fallen for, he uses historical facts. I found this segment refreshing, but, most importantly, it should be widely distributed to give Afghanistan proper context.
How to stop Trump allies from their successful Jan 6th rewrite & creating many false realities.
This current Jan 6th NBC poll illustrates how effective the Right-Wing misinformation machine is. The Left must step up their game quickly.
On January 6th, Trump unleashed a wall of treasonous insurrectionists who violently attempted a coup on the United States of America. Unfortunately, Trump and his cabal are slowly changing the narrative. They want Americans to believe that it was much ado about nothing. NBC News reported the following.
A majority of Americans are concerned about the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, believe it was an effort to overturn the 2020 presidential election results and think it was an act of terrorism, according to new results from the latest NBC News poll. …
An equal 59 percent believes the Jan. 6 attack was an attempt to overturn the 2020 election, with 38 percent disagreeing. But there’s less consensus on other potential implications of Jan. 6. Forty-six percent of adults say the attack has been exaggerated to discredit former President Trump and his supporters, while 50 percent do not agree. And 52 percent believe it was an act of terrorism, compared with 47 percent who do not— a decline from January, when 57 percent said it was an act of terrorism versus 40 percent who disagreed. …
The August split of 52 percent believing Jan. 6 was act of terror compared to 47 percent disagreeing is almost identical to the popular vote split in the 2020 presidential election. …
Majorities of Democrats (81 percent) and independents (55 percent) say the attack was an act of terrorism, compared to just 23 percent of Republicans. Majorities of Hispanics, Blacks, suburban, urban and college-educated adults all agree it was an act of terrorism, while majorities of whites, rural adults and those without a college education disagree.
One other factor that appears to have a significant correlation in how someone views the attack is media consumption. Majorities of adults who consume news either through cable news outlets like MSNBC or CNN, social media, newspapers, broadcast television or radio news all believe the attack was an attempt to overturn the 2020 election and an act of terrorism. But majorities of those who follow media outlets like Fox News or One America News say they disagree and instead believe the attack has been exaggerated to discredit Trump and his supporters.
Yes, the Left and the Right are informed by different media. But there are intersections. Those of us on the left need to be more proactive in making it impossible For these guys to revise history.
