These CNN interviews explain why Biden's poll numbers relative to Trump's suffer. It's media malpractice.
CNN's Dana Bash interviews Republican Tim Scott and Democrat Chris Coons, which illustrates partly why President Biden's poll numbers suffer.
The media's portrayal of political figures and their policies plays a pivotal role in shaping public opinion. A striking example of this is observed in CNN's coverage of President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump. The video clip in this article offers a lens through which one can scrutinize how media framing potentially impacts the perception of political figures and their achievements.
The narrative begins with a question that perplexes many: How does a twice-impeached former president with many legal challenges and a controversial track record remain a formidable contender against President Biden? This query sets the stage for critically examining the media's role in this dynamic. The answer may lie in how news outlets, exemplified by CNN, present and analyze political information.
A key moment in the narrative is the interview with Senator Tim Scott and Democratic Senator Chris Coons, conducted by CNN's Dana Bash. In this interaction, Scott praises the Trump administration, asserting the existence of a stronger economy and a safer world under Trump's leadership. Despite the controversial and lying nature of these claims, among many other lies, the interviewer does not challenge or scrutinize them, effectively allowing these assertions to stand uncontested. This lack of critical engagement with Scott's statements potentially misleads the audience into accepting his viewpoint as an unchallenged truth.
In stark contrast, when the Democratic senator highlights President Biden's economic achievements, including creating 14 million new jobs and a robust stock market, Bash interjects with skepticism. She questions the impact of these achievements on the public's sentiment, insinuating that despite positive data, these accomplishments might not resonate with voters. This approach, juxtaposing acceptance of one narrative with skepticism of another, illustrates media bias that is always one acquiescing to the Right or neo-liberals. It suggests a tendency to amplify and accept claims favoring Trump while scrutinizing and undermining those highlighting Biden's successes.
The problem that afflicts Democrats does not solely reside with a right-biased mainstream media. The right wing effectively reaches out to grassroots and rural communities, investing in local media and engaging directly with these populations. This strategy fills a void left by the Democratic Party, which is focused on high-powered consulting and neglecting the importance of grassroots engagement. Therefore, Trump's success is attributed not just to media bias but also to the strategic grassroots investments made by his supporters.
Even as the Right always blames the media as being liberal, outlets, including MSNBC, ABC, CBS, and Fox, are always biased towards the right. This bias is seen in the way these outlets frame political stories, often allowing right-wing narratives to be presented without challenge while questioning or undermining progressive viewpoints. This media malpractice is detrimental to disseminating a balanced, fair, and truthful political discourse.
These CNN interviews & Biden poll numbers.
The way media channels, exemplified by CNN in this instance, frame political discourse plays a significant role in shaping public opinion and political outcomes. The failure to critically engage with certain political narratives while scrutinizing others reflects a form of media malpractice that skews public perception. This, combined with the strategic grassroots engagement by the right, is a key factor in why Biden's poll numbers suffer relative to Trump's. The call to action is clear: for a more balanced political landscape, there must be a concerted effort to ensure fair media representation and robust grassroots engagement by all political factions.
