Ukrainian/American details real Ukraine history as he supports many in the war zone.
Vlad De Briansky, is a guitarist/composer/educator/political activist helping his homeland. His story is riveting.
Vlad is trying his best not only to support as many Ukrainian families in dire straits, but he is also making sure to tell the full Ukrainian story. He refuses to leave the narrative in the hands of a brutal, inhumane autocrat like Vladimir Putin.
A KPFT 90.1 FM Houston producer, Melissa Noble, found Vlad De Briansky. She was impressed with what he was doing in Ukraine and thought Politics Done Right should talk to him. She connected us. Here is the interview.
I asked Vlad to give us a short history of Ukraine. Is its genesis that of independence? He went through centuries of history. Vlad was on his way to take care of a business he had in Ukraine when the war broke out. Instead, he is spending a lot of time funding individual families.
Vlad has set up the GoFundMe Page “Help Refugees from Ukraine,” where he writes.
As you know Russia had invaded Ukraine. Unfortunately our school was bombed with all our equipment there. Russian rocket bombed civilian areas, people were forced to hide and leave everything behind. And there is over a million Ukrainian women and children are fleeing the country with no money and nowhere to go. Many people from European countries offered shelter and food, however many Ukrainians don’t have even money to get a ticket in Europe or buy their own food or medicine by leaving everything behind escaping the bombs.
My wife and I have helped several people to cross to Poland and we have found some families who offered shelter, food and clothes.
Listen to the entire interview. It is educational and enlightening.
An important note: I am in full support of the assistance we are giving to our brothers and sisters in Ukraine. We must help. But as we assist Ukrainians, there are essential issues that unleashed themselves that we must address going forward after all the world sees the following.
Without much debate, we find funds by the billions to assist our Ukrainian brothers and sisters. Still, we ignore our responsibility to provide support to those whose financial situations are in dire straits because of our rigged economic system.
While the processing of Ukrainians at our southern border is less than optimal, their humane treatment contrasts with how we treat our Haitian, Caribbean, and Latin American brothers and sisters.
