I have been honored recently to be on the Pacifica Network’s National Board. As we all know, media is changing. I have adapted your Politics Done Right (PDR) for this new media landscape. I am learning and trying new things to get the progressive message through our platform. As a member of the Pacifica Network’s National Board, I understand that a network of 5 major anchor stations throughout the country and hundreds of affiliates managed by an unpaid board and hundreds of dedicated staff is not one small program like PDR. We will have a myriad of ideas and methodologies to scale effectively. I am humbled and am always open to new ideas and advice. You all know how to reach me.
I choose four of my articles/blogs/vlogs apropos for this newsletter. Every week I write between 10 and 21 articles/blogs/vlogs. Recently I’ve restarted cross-publishing all my articles to the Medium platform. Many like the Medium platform and app for reading, and it is ad-free. Please follow me there. And here is my necessary and PDR existential ask. We need a lot more subscribers. Please be a part of supporting the mission. We have been successful in informing, empowering, engaging, and helping mobilize. Our book sales help supplement our efforts, but those margins are minimal. Please subscribe now if you can. This unnecessary heart attack death story will bring tears to your eyes. It is coming to pass faster than expected, deaths for profits.
Yesterday in our monthly "Ask Egberto Anything" monthly call, one of our PDR Posse members recounted a story that almost led me to tears. His neighbor had a heart attack. This death is a story that is waiting to happen to you. Tom C said the story scared him because it hit so close to home. Tom C recently described his community in a poem he wrote that we published titled "Vanilla Island." If this can happen in Vanilla Island, it can happen anywhere.
The hospital in their small community did not have the staff or equipment to care for Tom C.'s neighbor, who was suffering a heart attack. They sent him to a hospital 40 miles away to a major hospital in a major city. He waited over 9 hours in the emergency room. During that time, he was in excruciating pain.
They did not have a cardiologist at the E. R. "it's a Saturday," they told his wife. One room became available, but someone needed to clean it. The wife volunteered to do it, but they said no. They got him eventually into a room many hours after his worsening condition in the E. R. They told him a cardiologist would not be available till morning.
Tom C.'s neighbor was unable to wait for the cardiologist. His wife got a call. Her husband died from another heart attack. During the long delay, lack of rooms, and lack of medical professionals and doctors, a nurse told his wife, "Welcome to the American healthcare system."
Indeed, that is the healthcare system that I rail about constantly. Please listen to the entire snippet above. It may lead some to grow empathy and join the fight to protect us all. We need Medicare For All.

The Nation’s Publisher Katrina Vanden Heuvel discusses Ukraine & more about our political state.
The Nation’s Editorial Director & Publisher Katrina Vanden Heuvel discusses issues about the U.S. and NATO’s Ukraine stance & much more.
Recently I contacted Norman Solomon to discuss his recent article on the Ukraine crisis. He said he would and did give me an interview on his piece. But he told me that I also needed to talk to Katrina Vanden Heuvel, who could provide some in-depth perspectives complementary to his. I contacted her and set up this one. Katrina did not disappoint.
Katrina pointed out several issues that the mainstream media seldom covers. One need not wonder why.
How does the Bush/Baker broken promise on NATO expansion play into the current debacle?
How does the need of the defense industrial complex play into the mobilization of troops and ammunition given America’s less than surreptitious exit from Afghanistan? That was likely a hell of a blow to the defense industrial complex.
What parallels can one draw if we had similar geopolitical influences on our borders?
A diplomatic solution to Ukraine must be the only option. One hopes that typical neoliberal tropes don’t get in the way of intelligent diplomacy.
Katrina’s recent tweet said it all, “Time to confront Russia—not with military might, but with a bold diplomatic deal that will avert accidental or not accidental nuclear conflict.”
Katrina Vanden Heuvel also discussed many domestic issues. Our platform ensures we treat the problems not with soundbites but with the requisite depth. Doing so allows Americans to make the right choices. Listen to the entire interview. Most importantly, please be sure to share them to ensure we inform as many Americans as possible.
L. A. Justice, writer & activist, tells us why she has now decided to become a dedicated voter.
For a very long time, L. A. Justice bought into the myth that our vote does not count. She came around on her terms that it does. And she is doing something about it. Here is her inspiring story.
While attending the #1619Project Book Club on Twitter Space, I heard something that raised my eyebrows with excitement. The leader of the book club project, L. A. Justice, got a bit personal about her voting. L. A. said she has started voting and encouraging others to vote in the last few years. She did not vote for President Obama or anyone else for that matter.
Her prose got to me because millions hold her reasoning for not voting. I encounter it often in my activism. I wanted to have her on Politics Done Right because her story will make others pause and reevaluate their decision not to vote.
L. A. Justice is brilliant. Moreover, she is both a scientist, theologian, and historian. Convincing herself for decades that her vote did not matter may seem counterintuitive. But this is more prevalent than one would believe. My neighbor, a computer programmer/software developer and immigrant from South America, refuses to vote because he thinks it does not make a difference. I am sure if he listens to L. A., it will give him pause. He may take a second look.

Biden takes credit for blockbuster jobs report as GOP caught off guard from his economic success.
Biden had a lot to brag about after the most recent jobs report. My conservative listeners could not deal with it. But why did he feel the need to say he is a capitalist?
The January jobs report is out. Not only was it a blockbuster report for January, but it showed an increase in employment in the last couple of months. In other words, the reports that many Republicans attempted to use as Biden's failure showed the economy continued strong. This type of report was unexpected. DailyKos reported it as follows.
The January jobs report released Friday morning was predicted to be weak thanks to the omicron surge, and Republicans were doing victory laps in advance. Former Trump mouthpiece Sean Spicer tweeted that “the White House spin on tomorrow's jobs report will be fun.”
On Fox & Friends: ”How does the White House spin this?” and “What vaccine do you get for job loss?” and, in giant red letters, “MORE JOB LOSSES.”
Well, it turned out the White House doesn’t need to spin anything. Friday morning, it was President Joe Biden who had the opportunity to take a victory lap—this one based on the facts, not wishful thinking. “America’s job machine is going stronger than ever,” Biden said, touting truly impressive jobs numbers. Not only did January’s jobs report seriously exceed expectations, but November and December’s jobs reports were revised upward by huge numbers. Dow Jones had estimated 150,000 new jobs in January. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, reality was 467,000 new jobs.
”This morning's [jobs] report caps off my first year as president, and over that period, our economy created 6.6 million jobs,” Biden said. “If you can't remember any year when so many people went to work in this country, there's a reason: It never happened.”
Biden's use of Keynesian economics principles over the constancy of the failed supply-side economics proved its success. There was one sentence in the President's speech he felt compelled to say.
"I'm a capitalist," Joe Biden said. "But capitalism without competition is not capitalism. It's exploitation. So I'm going to continue to do everything in my power to work with Congress to make our capitalist system work better, provide more competition, and lower prices for American consumers."
Unfortunately, the President tagged himself unnecessarily. He did not need to do that. He needs to perform with fiscal policies that work. Let others fight about the attempt to redeem failed economic systems.
The President said that capitalism without competition is not competition. Capitalism has nothing to do with competition. It has everything to do with shareholder profit maximization at all costs. If anyone has any doubts, I suggest reading Milton Friedman's quote.
Because capitalism's sole purpose is to maximize profits for shareholders, the few, monopoly is a natural progression. Pilfering the worker and environmental abuse is the natural outcome. We do not have to question this reality anymore. We are living it, and it is all for them to see.
