Adding "sick leave" as a separate bill instead of an amendment was deliberate political theater. Leadership knew it had no chance of 60 votes that way.

Yesterday's action is in direct opposition to the 2020 party platform:

"We know that strong American labor unions help increase wages and job standards for workers across the economy, which is why Democrats will prioritize passing the PRO Act and restoring workers’ rights, ..."
